2025 calendar (collaged!)
ANALOG + COLLAGING + PRINT
Overview:
As a fun analog exploration, I created 12 hand-crafted collages made from recycled materials, formed through intuition and spontaneity. Each collage correlates with a month, and was spiral bound into a calendar. The collaged materials found at the Creative Reuse Center of Pittsburgh, include a fabric, sheet music or map base, greeting cards, magazines, postcards, found photos, large playing cards, produce mesh bags, old slides, puzzle pieces, postage stamps, and buttons.
The project was for a class called Process Potluck, a semester intensive dedicated to the process behind the creation of artifacts, detaching preciousness from a final product and attaching it to the making procedure.
The final collages were scanned front and back, and I hand-drew calendar gridding. The calendar was formed through fronts and backs of the collages, attaching the front of the collage on top of the corresponding back of the collage coupled with the hand-drawn gridded calendar. These flipped in spiral fashion to form the traditional calendar format.
